Series: Holidays and Heroes (#1)

Tropes: Disabled hero, Holiday romance, Christmas romance, Stalker

His pain keeps him isolated. Alone. Until Devan breaks through his walls.

Mac hasn't voluntarily spoken to another soul in months. Not since a mortar attack left him scarred and in constant pain. But when he runs out of coffee, he heads out into the snowy, Boston winter to fuel his caffeine addiction.

He's never been to Artist's Grind—part coffee shop, part local artist mecca—but when he sees Devan wiping graffiti off her door, something about her draws him in.

One taste is all it takes for Mac to want more. Much more. But he won't subject anyone to his scars—or his particular brand of damage.

He should walk away.

He will.

After one more cup.

Devan doesn't need help defending her home. Her heart, on the other hand, is about to be stolen.

Devan isn't going to let a little red paint scare her away. Even if the vandals are escalating.

When Mr. Tall, Dark, and Sexy walks in, she doesn't see his scars. Only a man with a little hitch in his step, a rough voice, and a maddening personality. And the first guy she's wanted to know more about in years.

Too bad he spooks at every personal question.

A little danger, a little intrigue, and a lot of sexy banter will leave you turning these pages all night long.

Fall in love with Mistletoe and Mochas, and let Devan and Mac's heat keep you warm for the holidays.

This was a lovely short story, filled with all of the elements that Patricia Eddy weaves so well - broken heros, strong and independent women, and the ultimate realization that scars don't have to be barriers to love.

I loved Mac. Gruff, lonely, unable to wrap his head around the idea that the walls he builds are a torture of his own making. Devan manages to rattle him enough - with wits and coffee - to break through those roadblocks, to lead to a very satisfying, sexy end. The romance and action scattered throughout made this a very enjoyable quick read, and I'd highly recommend it.

Love it

All he wanted was solitude and coffee but he found a lot more when he entered her shop. I loved that he was able to break his burials down and find someone.

Heartfelt & Steamy Holiday Read

Mistletoe and Mochas by Patricia D Eddy is yet another holiday novella I shut out the world for. I devoured it in one sitting, completely entranced by Mac and Devan’s story. With the perfect amount of suspense and intrigue, heat, and heart, this story of a wounded and broken soldier and a determined and caring coffee shop owner spoke to my soul. I quickly fell for both Devan and Mac and loved seeing their HEA come together, overcoming some serious barriers that drew them together and threatened to pull them apart.

Eddy’s story reaches beyond the typical holiday happy vibes, painting a vivid picture of a man recovering from both physical and emotional pain and the woman who helps him restore his faith in life and love. Both Devan and Mac’s individual backstories are well-developed throughout the novella, and their present and future together build on the foundations of their wants, needs, and desires. In a very short amount of time, and words, readers get a beautiful portrait of how perfect the characters’ connection is.

A complete standalone story, Mistletoe and Mochas touches on themes and situations prevalent in many of Eddy’s other stories. Readers can jump right in here, but definitely be prepared to seek out other books Eddy has written. Her writing style is smooth and effortless, descriptive and emotional, and definitely something I enjoy in all of her books.
