Raine is good a her job - reconisizing patterns and finding thier meaning. Then she finds patterns that no one expected to be found.Asher is in the wrong place at the right time. Then he sees her file.A captivating tale of finding patterns, purpose and each other when everything seems to be going wrong. A great addition the Away from the Keyboard/Gone Rogue world.
Intense came to mind when I started Operation Defiance and it stayed with me throughout the book. Patricia Eddy was so vivid in her descriptions of sensations feelings, emotions and surroundings that there were times I actually shivered with cold and then, felt like I was suffocating. That's the mark of someone who is at the top of her craft.Raine is on the spectrum but that doesn't mean she's slow or dim witted. She's was a field operative for years until she was shot on an op. Now she's behind a desk working as an analyst and she's darn good at what she does. In fact, she's done it so well that she's put a target on her back. Asher works solo. A contractor who specializes in rescue missions. He happens upon Raine while trying to find his current mission. This man has more empathy, patience and kindness in his pinkie finger that more than half the world's population. The journey these two embark on will definitely tug at your heartstrings. He slowly but surely leads her out of the darkness caused by the trauma of her ordeal into the light where she learns to live again. Together they work on taking down the nefarious and cruel operation that's not only disrupted many lives but ended many others. The love that grows between them is and wonderful.
Little does Asher know that when he breaks into a black site that he will find someone worth fighting for. He finds Raine with a bag over her head and close to death but she has enough strength to get out before she passes out. At his safe house, he nurses her back to health little by little and somehow instinctively knows what to do to keep her sane. Raine is in bad shape, she endured days of torture that almost broke her but she’s alive and that is a mistake to her captors. With Asher by her side, she will do whatever it takes to bring them down and when she finds other operatives who may have gone through the same thing….there is no stopping the wrath of Raine. This read may be long but it sooooo worth it and once you start the chapters start melting away, the pages keep flipping and the descriptions are perfection, making you feel like a part of the story from the beginning, the torture, the recovery, and Asher, patient and fierce, willing to do whatever it takes to keep Raine safe and help her take down her captors. The story flowed beautifully, Raine and Asher stole my heart and not a paragraph, sentence or word was too much.
With every new book, Patricia D. Eddy blows me away with her writing and the plot of the book. “Operation: Defiance” is an action packed, emotional and healing romantic suspense that was an amazing book from start to finish. From the moment I started, I was pulled into this world and I could not put this book down. Raine and Asher are incredible, complex and I could tell that they were two pieces of a puzzle that were finding each other again. Raine is incredible and went through a horrific thing that felt like a lifetime even though it was only eight days. It was a dark tunnel and at the end of the tunnel was Asher. Asher’s compassion and patience was one of the best things about him and that list is long for sure. Once he was able to prove to Raine that she was safe, we got to see how her mind works and it was incredible. The action and plot had me on the edge of my seat as I was reading because I had to know what was going to happen. I loved this book and I can’t wait for more from Patricia D. Eddy.
Raine and Asher... I don't even have the words. Even while I was reading this book (it's a long one!), my mind would occasionally try to figure out what I would write in a review as I was loving it, but I remain stumped. Simply put AMAZING. The emotion in this story is off the charts. Fantastic. Heart wrenching. Sigh. Raine is so strong. So is Asher, and I love the way he loves her for her and sees her. The two of them are perfection. The rendition of the evil and torture that exists in this world is painful and sickening. Crazy how I could FEEL the pain they were going through. There were times I wanted a break, but I was eager to see how they achieved their HEA. The two persevered and proved how true love can give you the strength and fortitude needed to survive pure hell and come out the other side a little broken but still whole. The characters that assisted from Patricia's other series made it even better. I cannot wait to see the journey she is about to take us on with this new series.
